ABOUT MURACK LODGE

Murack Lodge Program Statement:

Murack Lodge is committed to assisting youth, generally between the ages of fifteen to seventeen, in further developing their abilities toward successful independent living. The majority of youth admitted will be referred from other treatment programs where the process of responsibility and appropriate decision-making has already begun, and it is expected that each youth will be prepared to continue this effort through the support, guidance and encouragement of the Murack Lodge treatment team.Murack Lodge will provide an atmosphere that will instill motivation and is conducive to the learning process. Within this environment, we will offer services that will enhance and create constructive survival skills, while providing opportunities to practice these newly acquired skills on a daily basis. Every effort will be made to equip our residents with the skills essential for independent survival in the community.

Murack Lodge Program Goals:

The goals of the program are to provide a residential setting for 8-12 youth who are in need of developing their independent living skills and provide a supportive service following release from the program. The program objectives are to help each youth in residential placement to successfully complete a prescribed course in living skills and achieve goals that will facilitate independent living when the youth leaves the facility. Guidance and counseling services are provided for each youth while he learns to put the independent living skills to actual use. Each youth will be in residential care from eight to twelve months. Upon entering the program, each youth will be assigned an advisor who will coordinate and help implement that youth's specific program goals. Staff will also be responsible for youth during their initial aftercare status for three months. A written plan of supportive services such as financial and treatment related goals would be developed between the advisor and the youth leaving Murack Lodge prior to his release. It is the responsibility of the Murack Lodge Treatment Team to implement the program. Each member of the treatment team has been carefully selected to insure that the composition of the team is well versed in the multi-milieu treatment process and procedures for youthful offenders.

Population to be Served:

The general population of Murack Lodge will consist of youths coming from secure institutions or from community placements that are in need of a transitional living experience that will prepare them for independent living.
